WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Michael Jackson's sprawling Neverland Ranch was scoured by a platoon of marines and local law enforcement officers conducting an "ongoing federal investigation," authorities in Santa Barbara, Calif., said yesterday.
"There has been speculation by a lot of the media this arrived from a juvenile complaint, but that is not information released by the department," Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Deputy Joe Pike said. "In point of fact, this has nothing at all to do with smooth, nubile, teenage boys - - it has to do with national security concerns. Mr. Jackson has been deemed an enemy combatant by the White House."
Pike said information on the nature of the search, involving 200 marines, 60 to 70 officers, and a few do-gooder civilians, could be released this morning. He did confirm initial reports that large amounts of explosives and chemical and/or biological agents were found in the residence, as well as detailed plans for possible terrorist activities on various targets within the US. "This guy had enough C-4 on hand to blow up every building in DC. He must have been stockpiling the stuff for years."
Jackson denounced the "rogue's gallery of hucksters and inside sources" involved in media coverage of the search, which he noted occurred on the same day Bush landed in England amid mass protests.
"(Bush) is being rightfully heckled by the British people for his Iraq bullshit... and now he's trying to deflect attention onto me. This is a frame-up, people, pure and simple. Just more of his evil plan."
Jackson spokesman Stuart Blickman said the pop icon and his three young children were not at the 2,600-acre ranch during the daylong search but in Thailand, where Jackson was enjoying the fruits of the notorious Thai boy sex-slave trade.
In February, Jackson told a British television reporter that he sometimes shared his oversized bed at Neverland with enslaved child sex-drones. One of them, a 12-year-old boy identified only as Boy #26, said Jackson had often discussed bomb-making techniques, anthrax, and assassination fantasies with him while they were in bed together.
"Why can't you share your bed? Why can't you talk about bombs with children?" Jackson asked during the documentary in his trademark adolescent voice. "The most loving thing you can do is share your bed with a ten-year-old boy and talk about death. I mean, bombs are final; bombs are unforgiving. Bombs are the final say on things - on everything. Children grasp that. They are awed by it. They don't subscribe to the adult view that destruction is intrinsically bad. They like to see things burn. There's a certain orgasmic charm in there, a turn on: the frailty of human existence versus the unquestionable validity of fire, of explosions... "
He strongly denied having ties to any terrorist organizations and said Boy #26 and other children had vivid imaginations, and were wrongly portraying him as a threat to national security.
"I love people, especially children, " said Jackson. "I would never plot to destroy innocent lives. Sure I talk a little shit, fantasize about blowing things up - - but I strongly renounce all terrorism, in any context."
Santa Barbara District Attorney Thommy Schnepterimer, who declined to comment on the case yesterday, told a Canadian newspaper shortly after the program that the Pentagon would study the footage to determine if Jackson, or the children, should be questioned. "Some of these kids could be sleeper agents, no pun intended," said Schnepterimer.
"The conduct of any adult under these circumstances, sleeping with a child, talking about bombing shit - - is calculated to raise concerns," Schnepterimer told the Halifax Daily News.
The warrant, served at 8:30 a.m. local time, overshadowed the 45-year-old entertainer's release yesterday of "Number Ones," a greatest-hits collection that includes a new single "AMERICA = SATAN".
Jackson's half-billion-dollar career began to tailspin in 1993 after allegations that he bombed a Beverly Hills car dealership. He was later aquitted when all six witnesses were mysteriously killed in a single, freak, gondola accident.
Jackson has 48 hours to turn himself in or Bush will begin bombing LA and surrounding areas until he is found.
