Jelly Bean Portrait Of Queen To Debut At Golden Jubilee

FAIRFIELD, Calif. (Wireless Flash) – Lots of folks will be celebrating Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee, but the sweetest tribute yet is an all-jelly bean portrait. San Francisco artist Roger Rocha was commissioned to do the 4 ft. by 4 ft., 10,000 jelly bean rendering, which will be displayed in London’s Oxford Street starting tomorrow (Jun. 1). However, a spokesman for the Jelly Belly jelly bean company says he hopes the portrait doesn’t run into what could be its undoing – hungry children. Pete Heeley says Jelly Belly has decided to put the portrait behind glass, so kids won’t snatch any jellies, but not only because it would ruin the art – Heeley says the plastic coating on the candy could also make kids very sick.
