ROCK ‘N’ ROLL HAS A THUG-FILLED PAST

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) – The heart of rock ‘n’ roll should be beating behind bars. That’s the word from Burt Kearns, executive producer of an upcoming Court TV documentary that uncovers the thug-filled past of pop music, The Secret History of Rock ‘N’ Roll. Kearns says today’s gangsta rappers may get lots of press for their criminal entanglements, but, truth is, criminals have been part of the music biz from the git-go. He says people were shocked when they heard the story about Death Row Records head Suge Knight holding Vanilla Ice over a hotel balcony until he signed over the rights to his hits, but stuff like that was done on a regular basis in the early days of rock. In Kearns’ words, “The stuff that’s been going on in the rap world for the past 10 years has been going on in pop music for the past 50 years.” The Secret History of Rock ‘N’ Roll will air December 4.
