JUNKIE SITCOM TURNS HEROIN INTO LAUGHING MATTER

LOS ANGELES (Wireless Flash) -- Don't think being a junkie is a laughing matter? Well, a British-based sitcom hopes to show that heroin can be hilarious. "TheJunkies.com" is a web-based sitcom centering around three London heroin users who are busy trying to get their next fix. Co-creator Jane Bussman says the show was inspired by a group of addicts who stole her bikes for drugs. Some people don't find drug abuse funny but Bussman claims her comedy is "anti-drug" because it shows junkies as losers and takes away their mystique. Incredibly, Bussman claims many networks are "high" on the concept and are considering airing the show on mainstream TV. If that happens, she says she's willing to consider cameos by famous junkies but only if they "promise not to glamorize heroin."
