CHRONIC FATIGUE SYNDROME: TIME FOR A NAME CHANGE?

CHICAGO, Ill. (Wireless Flash) -- It looks like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome has a chronic problem: its name. A new study suggests doctors would take the so-called "Yuppie Disease" more seriously if the name was changed to something more "medical." The study, conducted by DePaul University psychologist Leonard Jason, reveals that medical trainees only thought Chronic Fatigue Syndrome was serious when its official medical name was used: "myalgic encephalopathy." Jason says the findings suggest CFS has a stigma, and a name change may be in order.
