BIG BUST FOR MILLENNIUM EVE: MOST PEOPLE WILL STAY HOME
CHICAGO (Wireless Flash) -- Although the upcoming Millennium's Eve is being hyped as the biggest event of the century, most folks will be spending New Year's Eve at home on their couch. That's according to a new survey by the Billennium Organizing Committee, which reveals 82 percent of Americans plan to spend December 31st sitting on their butts, compared to 7 percent who say they'll be attending a special party. The survey suggests all those so-called "millennium mega- events" may turn out to be mega-duds, because so many folks will be afraid to leave home just in case there really is a Y2K computer meltdown. Some people are truly concerned: 2 percent say they will spend the night praying in church -- about the same number as those who plan on shacking up in a hotel.
