Spider-Man Sketcher Wants to Set World Record for Drawing
NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) Most folks cant stay awake for two days straight but the artist behind The Amazing Spider-Man comic books is attempting to set a world record by drawing for that long. John Romita, Jr., will put his pen to page at 7 a.m. May 10 and wont lay it down for the next 48 hours barring a few 15-minute bathroom breaks. The Spidey sketcher expects hell crank out more than 500 autographed drawings for fans at $25 a pop and all proceeds will go to treat his two-year-old niece, who has cancer. Romita says he knows he can complete the feat because he often draws for up to 30 hours when hes working on deadline. Hell be juicing up on coffee and slugging ginseng and gingko biloba to stay sharp throughout the sketch session, but says, if all else fails, his wife will be there to prod him along.
