A Great Time for Spiderman Geeks

DALLAS (Wireless Flash) – With the new Spiderman hitting theaters May 3, it’s a great time for geeks looking to pick up some new Spidey memorabilia. Dallas-based memorabilia dealer John Petty predicts the film will cause sales of Spiderman comics and merchandise to surpass those of previous comic book films like Batman and X-Men. Why? Because of the flick’s improved special effects and Tobey Maguire’s star-power, says Petty. Petty is banking on the film’s success as well. He plans to hold an auction of Spiderman creator Stan Lee’s personal copy of the Amazing Fantasy #15 comic book, which features Spiderman’s first appearance. Petty says Spidey captures folks’ attention because he’s a “everyday teenage hero” who’s more realistic than other teen heroes like Batman’s Robin – whom Petty says no one ever cared about anyway.
