ELIJAH WOOD: ‘TOLKIEN FANS ARE GONNA CRUCIFY ME’

NEW YORK (Wireless Flash) – The star of the movie based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s fantasy trilogy The Lord of the Rings admits he’s never even read the series. 20-year-old Elijah Wood, who plays the hobbit, Frodo, makes his confession in the September issue of Premiere magazine. Wood says he did read the trilogy’s precursor, The Hobbit, when he was nine years old, but admits he hasn’t finished the three books that make up the film series. However, he claims that just by being on the set of the film, the books became “a massive part” of his life. When questioned about the potential internet avalanche that awaits him from critical fans, Wood only offers with a sigh, “I will be crucified.”
