CHESSINGTON, England (Wireless Flash) – Gorillas are giving the new Planet of the Apes a thumbs up. According to The Sun tabloid, keepers at a British amusement park recently screened clips of the flick for the primates and the animals beat their chests in approval.
SAN DIEGO – Aerosmith and ’N Sync are birds of a feather. That’s according to Aerosmith guitarist Brad Whitford, who tells Slamm magazine “...those guys in ’N Sync are no different than us.” He adds that his band made friends with the ’N Sync-sters during their Super Bowl performance earlier this year.
LONDON – The British press is reporting that Madonna is on the verge of buying a $12.75 million British mansion in Dorset, southwest England. The six-bedroom Georgian house sits close to an estate owned by her friend and fellow star Sting.
SAN DIEGO – How’s this for heartless: A whopping 51 percent of people say they treasure their computers more than their in-laws, according to a survey by Gateway computers.
STOCKHOLM – Kids under 15 in Sweden will be barred from seeing the Steven Spielberg flick AI. The Swedish ratings board has given the sci-fi flick its most restrictive film rating, saying children could be upset by a scene in which a young robot boy is abandoned by his mother.
Edinburgh – J.K. Rowling, author of the children’s books Harry Potter, claims she’s not suffering from “writers block” as was recently reported. She says she’s simply taking her time to complete her next book to her satisfaction and isn’t working on a deadline.
MONTAGNOLA, Switzerland – It’s time for Beatle George Harrison to “get back to where he once belonged.” The musician has moved into a luxury villa in Switzerland near a clinic he recently visited for brain cancer treatments.
OSLO, Norway – Norway is now home to the world’s longest tunnel. The 15.3-mile mountain passage linking Oslo and Bergen was recently opened and is designed to be an alternative route for winter passage of the mountains.
HOLLYWOOD – The star of Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is making a comeback. Michael Rooker stars in a new video from the band American Head Charge titled “The War of Art.” The band is currently touring with Ozzfest.
NEW YORK – The images of Boris Karloff’s Frankenstein and Bela Lugosi’s Dracula will be immortalized in wax at Madame Tussaud’s Wax Museum. The statues will be unveiled this Halloween in tribute to both the film’s 70th anniversary.
